Cycles define the time period for your OKRs — typically a quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4). OKRs Tool is built around quarterly cycles with weekly check-ins.

Creating a cycle

Go to Settings → Cycles → + New Cycle. Enter the cycle name (e.g. "Q3 2026"), start date, and end date. Only one cycle can be active at a time.

Active vs upcoming cycles

The active cycle is the one currently running. OKRs created without specifying a cycle are assigned to the active cycle automatically. Upcoming cycles are visible but not shown in the main Goals view until they become active.

Closing a cycle

When a cycle ends, OKRs Tool prompts you to close it. Closing archives all OKRs from that period to the Vault. They remain viewable in the Vault and Trends page.

Viewing past cycles

Use the cycle selector at the top of the Goals page or Alignment Map to switch between cycles and review past performance.

Best practice

Create the next cycle 2-3 weeks before the current one ends. This gives your team time to draft upcoming OKRs while still wrapping up the current quarter.
