Check-ins are how you update your Key Results each week. They take 2 minutes per KR and keep your health scores accurate and your team informed.

What a check-in records

  • New value — the updated current value for your Key Result
  • Status — how it feels: On Track, At Risk, or Behind
  • Note — optional context, blockers, or wins to share with the team
  • Attachments — optional screenshots, PDFs, or documents as evidence

How to submit a check-in

1

Go to Goals

Find the OKR and Key Result you want to update.

2

Click Check in

Click the Check in button on the KR row to open the check-in modal.

3

Enter your new value

Type the updated current value. The progress bar updates in real time.

4

Set your status

Choose how it feels — On Track, At Risk, or Behind. This overrides the calculated health status.

5

Add a note (optional)

Share context with your team. What's driving progress? What's blocking it?

6

Save

Click Save check-in. The health score updates immediately.

Reply-to-email check-ins

Every Friday, OKRs Tool sends a personalised nudge email for your most at-risk OKR. You can reply directly to that email — your reply is added as a comment on the OKR automatically. No login required.

Best practice

Check in weekly, even if the number hasn't changed. A note saying "no change this week — blocked by X" is more valuable than silence. It keeps health scores accurate and tells your manager what's happening.
