How check-ins work
Check-ins are how you log progress on Key Results. Each check-in records the current value, a status, and an optional note. Teams that check in weekly complete 43% more of their OKRs.
Logging a check-in
There are two ways to check in:
- From the Goals page — click the check-in button on any KR row you own.
- From the check-in session — go to the check-in session page to work through all your KRs in one flow.
What to fill in
- Current value — the latest number for this KR. For milestone KRs, mark as achieved or not.
- Status — On track, At risk, or Off track. This is your honest assessment, not just the maths.
- Note — optional but valuable. What happened this week? What's blocking you?
How status works
Status is manually set by the KR owner — it is not calculated automatically from the numbers. This is intentional. You know your context better than the system does. A KR at 40% progress might be on track if you are early in the quarter, or off track if you are in week 10.
Completed Key Results
When a Key Result reaches its target value or is marked as achieved, it is automatically excluded from future check-in sessions. There is nothing more to update.
Check-in reminders
You can set a weekly check-in reminder day in Settings → Notifications. OKRs Tool sends you a nudge email on that day if any of your KRs have not been updated that week.
