Your team structure in OKRs Tool mirrors your organisation's departments and teams. Setting it up correctly ensures OKRs connect in the right hierarchy.
Departments vs Teams
- Departments — top-level business units (Engineering, Marketing, Sales)
- Teams — sub-groups within departments (Frontend, Growth, Brand)
You don't need both — many companies just use departments.
Creating departments
Go to Settings → Teams & Departments
Click Settings in the sidebar, then the Teams & Departments tab.
Click + Add Department
Enter the department name and click Save.
Add teams (optional)
Click the department name and then + Add team to add sub-teams.
Creating teams from the People page
You can also create a team directly from the Team page — click the + New team button in the top right.
Assigning people to teams
Once teams are created, go to the Team page and assign each member using the team selector on their row.
Set up your department structure before inviting your team. It's much easier to assign people to teams when they join than to reassign them later.
